Install IQ Code

The installers need Claude Code 2.1.287 or later, used in your terminal. IQ Code is intended for macOS, Linux and Windows, and is tested on macOS and Linux. Windows needs Git for Windows. The Claude desktop app's Code tab is not verified for IQ Code yet: install from a terminal, then check that /iq opens in the Code tab.

The public release is 1.0.0. Read the source and license or report an issue.

The installers run the marketplace commands below, then can ask for your IQ key with hidden input; press Enter to skip. You can download a script and compare its SHA-256 with the value shown before running it. Restart Claude Code after installing, or run /reload-plugins in an open session.

Run both commands in your terminal, then restart Claude Code or run /reload-plugins.

/iq

You should see Home, Routing, Cost, Plan and Settings. Run /iq-route status to check routing. It starts off; the meter, cache clock, plan pace and themes work without an IQ key.

IQ Code routing needs the Personal plan ($6/month, 2,000 routing decisions a month) and an IQ key. The display features work without a key. Create your IQ key on the API Keys page of your dashboard. In Claude Code, run:

Enter your key in the masked IQ API key field. Key changes apply after /reload-plugins or a restart. Claude Code stores the key in the macOS Keychain, falling back to ~/.claude/.credentials.json if the Keychain rejects the write. Linux and Windows use ~/.claude/.credentials.json (%USERPROFILE%\.claude\.credentials.json on Windows). Do not put the key in your project or source control.

Uninstalling the plugin from its last install scope removes the key Claude Code stores for it, so add the key again after you reinstall. --keep-data keeps the plugin's data folder; it does not keep the key.

Run /iq-route on to enable routing for this session. Without a usable key, /iq-route on leaves routing off and tells you how to add one. The key authenticates IQ requests and is separate from your Anthropic credentials.
